In conjunction with his pastorate beginning in 1979, the church salutes his God given abilities, leadership, and spiritual guidance over the years.  Under his leadership and the power of the Holy Spirit, hundreds have been added to the church.  A new edifice was erected in 1989 at 2501 Buchanan Street.

In addition to this accomplishment, Pastor Gordon orchestrated in 2003 through the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc., the building of Fourteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Adansi-Apagya located in the Obasi region of Ghana, West Africa.  Consequently, providing an opportunity for others to have a place of worship on foreign soil.  Through his leadership, the church has contnued to prosper and tailor its ministry to respond to the needs of the community, including its robust outreach to the homeless through the Room in the Inn Nashville. Furthermore to the aforementioned successes, Pastor Gordon’s enthusiasm for children has led to the implementing of the following programs designed specifically for children and youth:  The AfterSchool Program (TAP) which offers academic support through one-on-one tutoring during the school year and in the past years summer camp enrichment, Sister to Sister for preteen and teenaged girls, Toastmaster’s Youth Leadership group for all teens, and Destination Graduation for bothparents and their children in fostering student success.
